His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II inaugurated today, Thursday, the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub, affiliated with the National Employment and Training Company.
During a meeting at the Hub, His Royal Highness emphasized the importance of the Hub’s role in training and qualifying youth from Aqaba and the southern governorates, and in equipping them with the skills required by the labor market.
The Crown Prince stressed the need to strengthen partnerships with economic sectors and relevant stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and quality of training programs.
Brigadier General Ashraf Alimat, Director General of the National Employment and Training Company, presented an overview of the specialized training programs offered by the Hub across a number of vocational tracks.
According to Brig. Gen. Alimat, the Hub comprises eight training workshops, including vehicle maintenance, welding technology, machinery operation, the Jordanian-German Center of Excellence for Logistics, facility maintenance, a digital manufacturing lab, the Aqaba Film Center (in partnership with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan), and the Zain Innovation Platform. The Hub also features supporting facilities such as an IT lab, a multipurpose hall, and a language lab.
He noted that the Hub has a capacity of 240 trainees and offers 15 vocational training programs, each lasting six months, in addition to 12 short-term programs ranging from one week to two months.
Brig. Gen. Alimat also pointed out that work is underway to introduce additional tracks, including energy efficiency systems and a specialized culinary arts program, expressing appreciation for the support provided by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) to the Hub.
The inauguration was attended by Brigadier General Ammar Al-Sarairah, Assistant Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for Planning, Organization, and Defense Resources and Chairman of the Board of the National Employment and Training Company; Shadi Al-Majali, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority; and Dr. Zaid Al-Buqain, Director of the Crown Prince’s Office.
Also present were Hussein Safadi, CEO of Aqaba Development Corporation; Dr. Tamam Mango, CEO of the Crown Prince Foundation; Ammar Ghraybeh, CEO of the Advanced Vocational Training College; and Jeanette Burmester, Coordinator of the Vocational and Technical Education and Training Sector at GIZ.
