The Parliamentary Administrative Committee visited the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub, affiliated with the National Employment and Training Company, where they met with Brigadier General Ashraf Alimat, Director General of the National Employment and Training Company, and Eng. Noor Mubaidin, Director of the Hub. The visit included a field tour during which the committee reviewed the workshops, laboratories, and the practical applications of the training programs.
Mr. Ghuwayri praised the high standards of the Hub, its facilities, and the technical expertise overseeing the training, emphasizing the importance of supporting national institutions dedicated to vocational and technical training as a main pillar in preparing and qualifying youth for the labor market. He expressed the committee’s readiness to work with the company to resolve any legislative obstacles it faces.
During his meeting with a group of trainees, Mr. Ghuwayri noted that vocational and technical training has become a national choice to address the unemployment challenge. He called for promoting a culture of vocational work among Jordanian youth and aligning programs with actual labor market needs, especially in light of the increasing demand for technical skills both locally and regionally.
Committee members further highlighted the importance of expanding vocational and technical programs to attract and empower young people in Aqaba, noting its status as an economic and investment hub that requires specialized and well-trained human resources different from those in other regions of the Kingdom.
As part of the visit, Brigadier General Alimat presented an overview of the vision, work phases, and objectives of the National Employment and Training Company, which strives to train and qualify Jordanian youth, equipping them with the skills necessary for the labor market. He also outlined the mechanisms of work and highlighted the company’s integrative partnerships with the private sector.
Meanwhile, Eng. Mubaidin delivered a detailed presentation on the Hub, describing it as one of the pioneering developmental projects, with a cost of around 4.6 million dinars and an intake capacity of 240 trainees at a time. The Hub provides a modern training environment through specialized workshops aligned with the vocational and technical programs it offers, including electric and hybrid vehicle maintenance, renewable energy, machinery operation and logistics, facility maintenance, and media innovation—culminating in professional practice licenses. It also includes language and IT laboratories.
In addition, she highlighted the availability of intensive short courses, noting that the training methodology follows the German model, which combines 30% theoretical training, 40% practical training in workshops, and 30% field training at actual workplaces.
