GIZ Visits the National Employment and Training Company to Explore Future Cooperation Opportunities

A team from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) visited the National Employment and Training Company as part of efforts to strengthen ongoing collaboration in the fields of education, vocational, and technical training. Brigadier General Ashraf Alimat, Director General of the National Employment and Training Company, welcomed the visiting team, expressing appreciation for the continuous cooperation with GIZ—particularly in supporting the development and establishment of the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub (ANVT Hub), which was officially inaugurated under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on June 12.

Brig. Gen. Alimat expressed his gratitude to GIZ for its active contribution, on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), to the establishment of the ANVT Hub. This support included equipping the Hub with the latest training equipment and technologies, knowledge transfer, capacity-building for trainers, curriculum development, and technical input in planning and designing innovative training programs, as well as strengthening coordination with partners and linking training to labor market needs. He affirmed that this cooperation was one of the key factors behind the project’s national success and distinction.

He further emphasized that this partnership reflects genuine collaboration that enhances the skills and employability of Jordanian youth, adding that the company looks forward to expanding cooperation with GIZ in the future through innovative training programs and broader partnership fields.

On her part, Jeanette Burmester, Coordinator of the Vocational and Technical Education and Training Sector at GIZ, expressed her appreciation for the partnership with the National Employment and Training Company, praising its active role in implementing specialized training programs that boost employment opportunities and support sustainable development across the Kingdom.

She added that “the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub (ANVT Hub) represents a successful model of cooperation in developing an integrated training system that not only provides a modern training environment but also introduces innovative training methodologies, a participatory governance model, and effective linkages with the private sector and labor market. This makes it a promising regional hub, thanks to its advanced facilities and alignment with international best practices in vocational training.”

It is worth noting that the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub (ANVT Hub) represents an advanced training model that embodies the concept of employment-linked training. It provides a practical learning environment based on hands-on application and close partnership with the private sector. The Hub includes specialized units in logistics, vehicle maintenance, facility maintenance and sustainment, industrial machinery, and entrepreneurship, along with a career guidance unit—ensuring comprehensive support for youth from training to employment.
