The Role of the Jordan Armed Forces in Achieving Comprehensive National Development

By Brigadier General Ashraf Mohammad Alimat
Director General, National Employment and Training Company

The National Employment and Training Company (NETC) was established under Royal Directives and with the direct support of the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces – Arab Army, under the close follow-up of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Its mission is to serve as a vital bridge connecting Jordanian youth with training and employment opportunities through specialized vocational and technical programs that meet the evolving needs of the labor market across diverse sectors.

Since its founding, the company has successfully graduated tens of thousands of qualified trainees in key professional fields such as construction, renewable energy, supporting industries, welding technologies, and electric and hybrid vehicle maintenance.

Today, NETC operates 18 training institutes across all governorates and desert regions of the Kingdom, offering high-quality training opportunities for young men and women within their local communities—minimizing travel burdens and expanding access to professional development. Among its most distinguished training centers is the Aqaba National Vocational Training Hub, inaugurated under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II. The Hub stands as an advanced model of specialized vocational and technical excellence, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories, and delivering programs aligned with the demands of a modern, innovation-driven economy. It embodies the Royal Vision of empowering Jordanian youth and qualifying them according to world-class standards.

Through its diverse programs and initiatives, the company has significantly increased graduate employment rates and helped secure job placements through partnerships with both public and private sector institutions. Today, it continues to evolve in alignment with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision, by introducing new specializations in solar energy, energy efficiency, and electric vehicle charging technologies.

In pursuit of innovation, NETC has also integrated virtual and augmented reality technologies into its training systems, creating a safe and interactive learning environment that simulates real workplace conditions before field application. This modern approach enhances practical skills, boosts professional competence, and ensures alignment with contemporary labor market needs. It also reinforces the company’s role as a continuation of the Jordan Armed Forces’ constructive contribution to national development.

Guided by this Royal Vision, the National Employment and Training Company has become a national platform for shaping the future and empowering Jordanian youth—a platform that goes beyond training to build a generation that is self-aware, innovative, productive, and competitive in both local and regional labor markets.

This firmly reflects the belief that investing in human capital is the most effective path toward building a strong, progressive, and resilient nation, confidently advancing under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.

May God protect our homeland and our Armed Forces under the wise leadership of His Majesty the Supreme Commander.
